Eight is Enough

So...I pretty much got nothing. Plus, I'm still reeling from the fact that my first guest blogger is more popular than me ON MY OWN BLOG. How suck is that? (Just kidding - that's awesome.) Maybe I should spend more time carefully weaving a story that is humorous, engaging and thought provoking...Oooo! Shiny vampire!

I suppose I could write about the weather: It rained. A bunch. Rednecks swam in flood waters. For fun. There was no school. There better be school today. The end.

And now...I'm going to punt. A few members of the Magnificent Infinity posted "8 Things" posts, so I'm going with that. We used to be the Magnificent 7, but we're a friendly bunch, and people dig us (especially Annie K). I'm changing mine up a bit because I like to be different, and they're not the boss of me. Here ya go:

8 Things I MAY OR MAY NOT have done Yesterday:
1. Made red beans and rice for lunch.
2. Shot a man just to watch him die.
3. Sent Donald Miller* a tweet with the word frigintastic and got a response to said tweet.
4. Threatened to kick my kids out in the rain if they messed up my clean house.
5. Got rave reviews from Simon Cowell after singing "Jenny" on American Idol for Wii.
6. Alphabetized my spice rack.
7. Took an extra dose of Ginkgo Biloba for good measure.
8. Booked 2 appointments with potential new clients for next week.

*yeah, "Blue Like Jazz" Donald Miller.

8 Shows I MAY OR MAY NOT Watch
1. Best Show in the History of Television (also known as The Deadliest Catch)
2. Dancing with the Stars
3. CSI Miami
4. CSI NY
5. CSI Las Vegas
6. Dirtiest Jobs
7. Myth Busters
8. The Office

8 Things I Wish I Could Do (or might actually be able to do):
1. Paint with either hand.
2. Juggle.
3. Write song parodies a-la Weird Al Yankovitz.
4. Recite the preamble to the Constitution.
5. Play the harmonica.
6. Roller Skate backwards.
7. Make awesome chicken enchiladas.
8. Sing "American Pie" in its entirety (the long version)by memory.

8 Things I MAY OR MAY NOT be Looking Forward To:
1. Meeting some of my bloggity gal pals this summer.
2. Tomorrow.
3. Redoing my guest bathroom.
4. Old age.
5. Catching up on a season's worth of American Idol on Tivo.
6. Going to my husband's high school reunion.
7. Going to Japan with my mom someday soon.
8. The premiere of the movie "New Moon".

Just to make this interesting and to lure you lurker types out of shadows, I am offering a frigintastic prize to the person who can come up with the most correct true or false answers to the aforementioned statements. In the event of a tie, I have more than one of these quality pieces of yard art:

These are not the actual birds in my possession, but seriously - close enough! I didn't feel like taking a picture, downloading it to my computer, etc. Besides, mine are hermetically sealed in the original packaging. Sa-weet! This is a friendly competition and all results are final. Please - no wagering.

The winner will be announced on tomorrow's post.

Bonus Question: I MAY OR MAY NOT have given out the following phone number on one or 30 occasions "back in the day":

I know the answer to all of these. But I don't want me no stinkin' pink flamingos. You won't get many comments giving away stinkin' pink flaminos.

Aren't you supposed to use the (R) symbol after the word frigintastic? Doesn't NtG have exclusive rights to that word?

I may or may not know the answers to these but I also may most certainly not need more redneck flair.

Also Mythbusters is one word. I asked my wife if I could try to get a job working for them when we're in CA this summer and she's all, "but we live here" and I'm all, "but I could blow crap up for science." Then she's all "I don't like it when you blow stuff up." (she's a lady so she doesn't say crap) So I say "but that doesn't stop me and if I work there I'll get paid and get insurance so when I blow my frigin hand off I'll still get paid in ducks." Then the conversation just took a turn for the worst so I'm not sure if I'm allowed to try and get a job with them while we're out or not?

I loved this song. I memorized the phone number of the boy I had a crush on as a kid to this song. I STILL KNOW IT! Ah, the power of song.
I would love to be bonded to you via pink flamingo, Katidish. I hear pink flamingo's are the new monkey butt..

I am looking forward to putting out those monke....I mean flamingos, and saying I got them from my friend Katdish, in Texas, who has some just like it on her lawn.....Female bonding is awesome. Unlike men, we don't have to belch and bump chests....unless we want to....

There is nothing, NOTHING, wrong with rednecks swimming in flood water. That's how most of us take our baths.

And I would like to see a post on shiny vampires, please.

And it's not my fault that people love me.

And I think I know most of those answers, too. But there's a conflict of interest between pink flamingos and my man card.

And last night's Deadliest Catch effectively cured me from ever wanting to try that myself.

And as for Helen's comment, men do not ONLY belch and bump chests. We hit each other sometimes, too. And fist-bump.

Wendy said...

Hey now Helen, don't go thinking that those flamingos are in the bag! Yup, I've got some answers too.

Okay, so most of my answers are the same as Helen's, except for the following:

Recite the preamble to the Constitution - Yes. I'm guessing you were a big enough School House Rock fan to do that.

Juggle - Yeah, I think you can do it.

And then there's the bonus question. Not only do I think you gave it out "back in the day," I think you'd give it out now whenever you got the chance.

Wendy said...

Oh, uh, and by "give it out" I mean the phone number.

*snicker*

Alice,

I'm going for 32, 33 if you are including the bonus question, because I don't think you'd ever lie or try to deceive anyone.

Shut Up.

Helen said...

Yes she gave out that number to strangers. Except ones who were on to her. Then gave out 588-2300.

Candance Jean,

You see a bit tense. You should go outdoors. Perhaps sit beside your lovely pond and gaze at your mutant goldfish experiment gone horribly wrong. As far as "frigintastic", I linked that word to Ntg's original post. Furthermore, considering that I was first to coin the phrase "I big red monkey butt heart you" (you're welcome), I hardly think that a spattering of frigintastic by yours truly constitutes any violation of word ownership. And I'm totally sending you a flamingo.

NtG - My husband is always telling me that he is worth more dead than alive. I'm wondering if your wife has any of the same thoughts.

Helen - you skipped #7 and #5 on the 1st and 3rd list, respectively.

Billy - yes, yes...people love you. I told you, it's the hat. And Deadliest Catch? I know, right? Also, yard art makes for a wonderful mother's day gift.

Wendy - see Helen's comment. Also, that's what she said.

Shut Up - I'm guessing that discernment is not one of your spritual gifts.

Helen - stop giving out Annie K's phone number.

Frank got likened to Jaime from Mythbusters once. It made his year, I think. I secretly like that show.

Crap, secret's out.

Also, I am not a lady.

Also, also, I'm eating chocolate in large quantities right now.

I would guess that yes, you take GB, you do recommend it to Steph at RCD a lot.
And I would guess that you wouldn't advertise watching AI. I have researched other blogs you frequent, and have found no AI reference, so I therefore deduce that even if you watch it, you are thinking about not admitting it publicly. ;-)

Man, you just keep going! I am officially a fan of your site.
And Donald Miller is a dweeb. Can I say that? Am I the only one? Until he has a wife and kids and has had to work a real job, I don't want to read any more of his stuff.
I'll read yours instead.

Shoot, first time visiting. I will have to visit again to know the answers! Here from billycoffey.blogspot.com

Beth - What does NtG know? Just because you say crap doesn't mean you're not a lady (VURP!-scuse me). How's yer face, scallywag?

HA! First God leaves a comment on yesterday's post, then Brad Moore today. Up yours, Donald Miller! (just kidding) (maybe).

The Things We Carried - You should check back. I give away a fine assortment of sucktacular prizes on this blog.
