Days of Elijah

These are the days of Elijah,
Declaring the word of the Lord:
And these are the days of Your servant Moses,
Righteousness being restored.
And though these are days of great trial,
Of famine and darkness and sword,
Still, we are the voice in the desert crying
'Prepare ye the way of the Lord!'

Behold He comes riding on the clouds,
Shining like the sun at the trumpet call;
Lift your voice, it's the year of jubilee,
And out of Zion's hill salvation comes.

These are the days of Ezekiel,
The dry bones becoming as flesh;
And these are the days of Your servant David,
Rebuilding a temple of praise.
These are the days of the harvest,
The fields are as white in Your world,
And we are the labourers in Your vineyard,
Declaring the word of the Lord!

There's no God like Jehovah.
There's no God like Jehovah!

Late yesterday afternoon, I received a call from my friend's daughter. You see, my friend is 71 years old and is dying of cancer. She was in the hospital, but is now in hospice care at home. Anyway, she was asking for me all day, and they finally got a hold of me. I sat with her, we prayed, talked and laughed. There is always laughter when I'm with my friend. I cannot express how special this lady is to me and my family. She is kind, compassionate, outrageous and funny. When I get to be her age (God willing), I want to be just like her. The video and the song lyrics posted above are "Days of Elijah", the song she wants played at her funeral. No slow, sad songs for her! She wants people to celebrate God's glory.

I'm going to go hang out with my friend some more today. I know she's destined for a much better place. She told me she's ready to go. But I just want to spend as much time with her as I can. I'm selfish like that...

Reminds me of JoAnn, the lady that passed a few weeks ago. She is amazing.

Kathy, I'm praying for you, your friend and her family. She must be an awesome woman to want her funeral to be a celebration of God and His glory.

I love Days of Elijah! I CRANKED this song and sang along. Thank you for sharing.

How blessed your friend is - and what an awesome song for a funeral! The time I have spent with friends who are close to death are some of the most memorable (and funny!) times I've ever had. I love it when people can look "death" in the face and laugh, knowing they will always abide with Him.

Awesome.

And no PCB references anywhere in sight!

I am sorry about your friend being ill. I am glad you still have time to spend together.

At my funeral? Only the Good Die Young. Even more appropriate if I live to be one hundred. (In case anyone is wondering, no, the Catholic Church wouldn't allow it in a million years.)

Isn't it strange all the contradictory feelings we have when a Christian is close to going home? The sadness we feel because of our loss of the person, but the joy for them because they get to see God soon. She sounds like an awesome woman! You are truly blessed to have a friend like that. I hope that your time with her is joyful!

It's so refreshing to hear things like this, of people perhaps on the edge of this world and the next, neither wobbling nor frantic, but simply enjoying. I want to be like that, too. Enjoy your time together. I know you will.

And no sad songs for me, either. Though I might be inclined to sing one for all the people stuck down here.

Jon's cousin passed away last year. He was an amazing guy and I have no doubt that he ran through those pearly gates to get to Jesus. The final song they played at his funeral (a MENNONITE funeral) started with a guy yelling "IT'S TIME TO PARTY!" It's probably the best party heaven has seen yet!

Have an awesome time with your friend Kat!

(((Kathy))) We're all selfish that way. You're allowed to celebrate her getting to go home and miss her too.

Hospice is a great org. Thanks to them, when my uncle passed it was with dignity.

You're in my prayers.

Couldn't resist this wv: thinish - the end of a diet.

We had another great visit. I love that woman! She keeps saying she's ready to go, but she sure has a lot of spunk left in her! Thanks for your prayers.
