Cartoon Bloggers Part 6 - SCL Lightning Round

Forever! This series has taken forever! As is typical for me, I think something's going to take way less time than it actually does. But I didn't want to rush through it and make some rookie mistakes. Cartoon/Fictional Characterizations are serious business. My rep is on the line here. Okay, whatever...I just overthink things sometimes.

Part 6? Sheesh! I'm ready to stick a fork in this one, people. The following are folks that have commented on Stuff Christians Like. Their comments have either made me think, made me cry, made me laugh or simply say out loud, "Oh yeah...they went there." Including everyone from SCL would be impossible -- there are many not listed simply because I really couldn't come up with a suitable comparision. There are others that are listed more than once because, for me, no one character association captures the essence of my perception of them. Many of them will not make sense to someone of sound mind. But this is ME you're dealing with here. If you need clarification on any of these, or if there's someone that is obviously missing, let me know in the comments section. These are in no particular order, and remember, animation is the highest form of flattery (or something like that).

Man.....my Catholic High School was all girl, so we never danced in the cafeteria like that. Bummer. I couldn't even get them to conga in the cafeteria to Gloria Estefan. I knew my High School was lame....

That was amazing.

Wow, you're right: Hucklebuck is a good combination of Mike Wazowski and Jim from the Office. :)

Awesome video clip! I imagine that's what we'd really do if we all got together.

Oh, and I laughed out loud when I saw you equating Anonymous with Joel Olsteen. Now I know just how much you loooooooove anonymous commenters. Want to do the polka?

Hey, at least I am not anonymous.

I bow to your creative genius... that was the best laugh I've had all day! Can I use the megaphone one?- it suits me very well! And all the anon. ones, oh my! They were awesome... you did a great job, Kathy, and if [that] doesn't get you a comment out of Pete Wilson, I don't know what will!

Oh the unibrow....I about fell off my couch.

We can only hope to have a dance party such as this in heaven...and I'll be leadin' the pack in my snuggie. (If it ever arrives.)

Goodness katdish, how long did it take you to create that post? You really should get paid for this. Give yourself some $$$, or maybe a day at the spa. I think you've earned it.

Stacey said...

Oh yes, and all of the anons were brilliant! LOL!

For the record, I don't have a problem with anonymous comments. If there's something that you want to share and you're not ready to go "public", Anonymous is a-okay with me. It's just when people make snarky comments without using their real name that I have a problem with. I've never danced a polka, but I've never been to a family wedding where I didn't do "The Chicken Dance". Good times.

Xena AND Ariel?! Yes... I'm happy!

Oh, by the way, one of my patients today [with complete sincerity-mind you] was telling me how much they wanted one those "you know, blanket things but it opens down the back?". Can you imagine how hard it was to keep a straight face? It was not easy, not easy at all, my friend.

Annie K said...

Seems to be a lot of sissies on that list. HA! (The unibrow was brilliant.)

WHo was minding the store while you did all this?

DO you have a nanny?

Bless your heart- that was a TON of work! You deserve a break-- kick your feet up- let someone guest blog for you.

katdish said...

I'll let ya'll in on a little secret...

I usually have at least 2 or 3 blog posts in various states of completion. It works with my ADD tendencies. When my mind wanders from one subject to another, I just start another post. There's probably about 10 to 15 posts just lying in the blogpost trash heap. But Sherri, I think it would be kind of fun to draw names and guest blog for each other. Wouldn't you just LOVE IT if I picked your name?

How's sis BTW?

jasonS said...

Now, am I Foghorn Leghorn or is that someone else? I'm a little confused, but if it is me, I do love Foghorn.

That was quite the post!

wv: bullsto- "The Amazing Bullsto" was a man/bull act that traveled around in the early 50's at circuses until tragically the bull had enough... I should end it there.

katdish said...

Jason,

Yeah, you're totally Foghorn Leghorn. Doesn't everyone from Oklahoma talk like that? Oh, I'm kidding. I dig him, too.

Favorite Foghorn Leghorn line:

"He's a nice enough boy, he's just a little on the DUMB side."

That is one funny rooster!

Sherri Murphy said...

If you drew my name I would purposefully leave typos scattered throughout my post (Like I normally do ,but this would be on purpose.)
You would then need a guest interpreter.

SIs is not better, but thank you for asking.

Today she is checking into some legalities to find out how to move forward to protect this child.
PLEASE continue to pray. LOTS of problems here.

You are adorable, Katdish, and I am truly honored to get a nod in one of your brilliant posts. I mean it--you are waaaaay funny and witty and smart.

Okay -- but do you understand why I chose Marcy for you? Are you a fan of Peanuts? I'm going to give you my take on it because I fear that it is probably obscure (as my line of reasoning often is).

Peppermint Patty (and other characters in Peanuts) took center stage very often. But it was MARCY, while sometimes unnoticed (i.e. - w/o a blog of her own) who was more often than not, the smart, deep thinking, funny girl. I dig Marcy...and you, too! So that's why I chose her for you.

jasonS said...

Actually, I don't really have an accent (except when I'm really tired for some reason). My wife, who's originally from Kentucky, is hilarious though.

If we are on a plane bound for her home state, she picks up an accent as we come in for a landing. It's pretty bizarre!

wv: epenup- they found out that TV preacher was not on the epenup.

heartafire said...

How kind, Katdish.

I am a big Peanuts fan, but Marcy is one of those characters I never paid much attention to, prob. because Peppermint Patty is so colorful. (and I was always busy wondering if PP was gay.) (You know what a deep thinker I am, and all.....)

But after reading your explanation, why, Marcy is actually my favorite- favorite- favoritest Peanuts character ever! She is ....SO smart and.....SO deep. And she has those cute glasses and plus, SHE doesn't even have a blog! (although the reason I don't is because I barely have enough time to keep up with all the blogs I love---I have actually installed a timer right near my computer just because of that-- and I bet if I had a blog I would never get to do one other thing other than try to think of cool stuff to put on my blog.)
I am serious. My family would not eat or have clean clothes or a clean house. (actually, that last one is true already---they would not miss having a clean house because they already don't have a clean house. )

But even if I had my own blog, I would prob. be compelled to hop over to yours or SFL or Cakewrecks every once in awhile, and then would fall into complete despair, because I could never be that clever or funny, so I'd probably scratch black Sharpie all over my screen and not be able to blog anyway.)

(So I have now come full circle, with none of the heartache.)

But thank you---truly---for the Marcy icon, and also for saying such nice things. I really wish I was deep. I do come from a funny family, so I will own that one.

I am glad we are new best friends. It's one of the best feelings in the world.

My favorite color is yellow, I have pierced ears, I walk at 5 every morning with a neighbor, and I loathe okra.
I love gardening, reading, oysters, Texas (my old BF lived in Dallas & I used to go there a lot), music, Jesus, and being a wife and mother. [not in that order]

I think that about covers it.

Prodigal Jon said...

wow, that was awesome. Who was the second one you posted for me? The kid in the stripped or striped is it shirt? I didn't recognize that guy although I am assuming he can breakdance if you kept this list real. and I believe you did.
Jon

heartafire said...

Jon, It's the guy from Blue's Clues. It used to be Steve, but now it's a new guy who is like Steve's cousin or something. My girls were just growing out of the Blue's Clues stage when the baton was being passed to the new guy. (I thought I wouldn't like him, but he was actually pretty good.)

I really liked Steve though, and Katdish is 100% right that you and he were separated at birth, at least virtual-personality-wise.
He is very smart, but mild-mannered, kind, confident, and gentle in his teaching. He's sort of tricky, because you think he's one thing (teacher of little kids) and then you find he's another (stealth-genius).
