Baby it's Cold Outside!

Earlier this week, I watched the weatherman with mild amusement as he predicted snow for Friday. You see, I live in Houston, Texas. I've lived here for over 30 years. I've seen snow (the kind that sticks to the ground) a total of 3 or 4 times, and I've NEVER seen snow like I saw yesterday. It's sort of a big deal...

I've got a blog post stewing in my busy little mind about my experiences in the snow, but since it's Saturday I thought I'd just share some pictures for now.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend -- snow or no snow. I'm hoping to get out early tomorrow and enjoy what's left of the snow before the weather remembers that whole global warming thing...

Oh very cool! I get very sentimental with our first snow....in a spiritual way. It covers the depressing damp/dark end of fall (wet leaves, muddy yards, bare trees) with such a beautiful clean/pure blanket.

Hey, if you ever get any of the white fluffy withdrawals....feel free to pop up here in New England to get your fix this winter. We've got room for ya at our place!

So weird too, as we have had unseasonably warm temps the past few days in CT....like crazy unseasonable (mid 70s)

OK, enough rambling.....enjoy the snow! Have a great weekend too. :)

An angel took her time
to leave her image
on newly fallen
white on green

In time the snow
will find its rightful
place to fall

and I will find
myself missing
the outstretched wings

welcoming me today.

I just finished shoveling my driveway. Do you need to borrow my shovel? Didn't you hear? The new gimme million$ scheme - researching Global cooling?

Snow in Texas, and none in Chicaago...
I'm not jealous. REALLY!!! As far as I am concerned, you can have ALL of our snow this year.

You have way more snow than we do in Iowa, though it's probably colder here. I think I just heard Al Gore say "Houston, we have a problem...."

Please tell your 6 ft tall daughter that her snowman is beautiful.

Very cool. I love it when my kids make snow angels and build snow men and snow ladies. I like to watch from the kitchen window with coffee mug in hand.

Have fun!!

Congratulations on your snow! Even more congratulations for you when it melts. Well, okay, I don't care much for snow but that's because I'll get plenty of it this season (already have) and it loves to torture me.
Merry Christmas!

I'm in Dallas...shaking my head. Here on business from South Dakota for three weeks, and can't figure out for the life of me why I had to come all the way down here just to get weather like home.

Love that you had enough to build Frosty.

Enjoy it.

Okay, is that a snow-covered palm tree behind your barbeque?

Here I am in Africa, wondering what snow looks like.

I kid you not, I have never seen snow in my life. Sad, I know.

Howdy Cat!

Hey, for some reason I didn't know you lived in Katy; I live up in the Tomball area. Alas, our snow was more of a dusting than a blanket. But it was enough to murder our poor defenseless banana plants! *sigh*

Still, snow in Houston IS pretty insane! A tip o' the hat to ya!

it's nice to get a surprise sprinkling of snow every now and then. i live in south arkansas so it snows infrequently here too, but when it does everyone gets excited, the supermarkets fill up and people camp out at home to watch it fall.
