When I heard the topic for this week's blog carnival, this song was the first thing that popped into my head and I just couldn't shake it. I'm not going to pretend this song has any deep, hidden spiritual meaning...
But then again, lyrics can mean different things to different people; may even mean more or less depending on the season of life one happens to be going through. That's the beauty and power of a well written song.
So what do I take from the song at the moment? I'm reflecting on memories - both sweet and sad. That's a good thing, I think. Just as long as they don't prevent us from creating new ones.
Remember yesterday, live for today. Keep your eyes on the Eternal.
I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
I'm so tired but I can't sleep
Standin' on the edge of something much too deep
It's funny how we feel so much but we cannot say a word
We are screaming inside, but we can't be heard
But I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
I'm so afraid to love you, but more afraid to lose
Clinging to a past that doesn't let me choose
Once there was a darkness, deep and endless night
You gave me everything you had, oh you gave me light
And I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
And I will remember you
Will you remember me?
Don't let your life pass you by
Weep not for the memories
Weep not for the memories

The clarity of her voice blows me away. I love this song! Thanks for ...some...morning....tears.
Beautiful song and her voice is also gorgeous.

Amazing. I actually tie this song to a period in my spiritual walk when I wondered if God had given up on me after years of denying Him.
I know better today...God's love is boundless. For that, I am thankful to Him daily.
Nice post! You know, I need to keep up with these blog carnivals!
Good post and song.
Like this line you wrote "Just as long as they don't prevent us from creating new ones."
So true!
I really love this song too. I can't listen to it too often because sometimes remembering hurts too much at particular times, but at other times, this song brings a flood of beautiful and amazing memories. Thanks for sharing it...
Love that song.....but I think I love what you wrote a little more being in a wishy-washy melancholy state lately.
"I'm reflecting on memories - both sweet and sad. That's a good thing, I think. Just as long as they don't prevent us from creating new ones."
Weep not for the memories...
Why does that particular line actually make me cry?
I love this song, too.
exactly...
She has a nice voice, to be sure...
The only thing I'm going to remember from this song though is how much I dislike her boots.
Ugh!
Sorry.
I've always loved this song, and it seems to relate to ANY and EVERY tragedy you are thinking of when you hear it!
It brings me to tears, but in a good and cleansing way... thank you, Kathy.
"Remember yesterday, live for today. Keep your eyes on the Eternal."
As I've said, I luv it when you get serious, Kat. ;)
It feels good to be happy and sad... when I'm in a meloncholic mood. Good for writing .. and remembering..
Yup, I love this song, too. I may just have to keep hitting the play button over and over.
What a song, this song touches me spirtually, because, so many people pass me by and I pass so many people by, but they are all part of my life. I will try to pay more attention to the people that pass into my life if only for a second.
Hey you... thanks for stopping in at the InCourage giveaway. You're the life of the party. :)
