Wuddup with the sideways smiley faces?

So, apparently I'm in a bit of a non-conformity/skanktinicity groove lately. I'll shake the skanky thing as soon as I get the rest of those Bratz dolls out of my house. BTW - If you don't want me to send the leftover dolls and feet to our good friend Beth, you should probably take a bullet for her and enter the contest. I think I've gotten her pretty worked up about that -- mostly because she knows I'll do it without blinking an eye.
Let's briefly review shall we?
Erin was our first winner. The lovely and talented Kardashian sisters are en route to her as I type this post. Still in the running are: Jake, Tony C., Rrramone, Nick the Geek, Helen, and of course, the odds on favorite: Beth!
Stacy from Louisville is still disqualified, but may claim her giant ball of dryer lint at any time. You many enter as often as you want. These make lovely gifts for friends and loved ones and will be beautifully gift wrapped in an empty Fancy Feast cat food box and shipped directly at no extra charge. Deadline for Slutty Girlz Rock Band featuring Miss Amy Winehouse is this Saturday at 9:00 AM Central time. Here's a sneak peek at this week's group and the next two prize extravaganzas to follow:
This week:

Next week:

And the grand finale:
As with last week's contest, I will not be judging. I really don't want to have to make such an important, potentially life altering decision for one of you lucky contestants. Ron, Tamara and Jeff will continue to judge the contest. Good luck to you all. Especially you, Beth! AHEM!
Now, back to my groove thing:

What I will never (hopefully) shake is the non-conformity groove. I'm a half-breed freak. As a kid, I thought that if only I had blond hair and blue eyes happiness would be mine. I used to put tape on my eyelids and look in the mirror to see how I would look if I was "normal". I'm way past that now (mostly). Normal is boring. Normal doesn't build character. Normal isn't funny. And seriously...these days, what is considered normal anyway? (Sorry -- little tangent there.)

As I may have mentioned before, I am not very techno-savvy. Fortunately, freaks tend to befriend geeks, so if I can't figure something out, there is always someone who can save me from my ignorance. I don't have texting on my phone. When I first saw "LOL" on a website comment, I thought it meant "lots of love". I was thinking, "Wow, that person REALLY liked that article!" I am also a dork.

And, of course, since everyone else uses this term, that automatically negates my use of it and any other text abbreviation. I just can't go there -- Talk to the hand! (again - dork)

Lately, it seems everyone's been using the sideways happy face or some version of it in their comments. Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on the smiley face, I'm just not going to use any emoticons in my comments...Oh, well -- except maybe this one:

( I ) - yes sherri. that is a butt.

Editor's Note: I just proofread this post and laughed out loud when I re-read "I'll shake the skanky thing". I crack myself up. Sometimes not even on purpose. Whoa...this post was like blowing up a balloon really full and then letting go -- all over place! Sorry/you're welcome.

There is something to be said for emotes and abbreviation. <3 I am a geek and got into IRC (online chating) back in its infancy. :o) Heck I was online with a 9600 screaming fast modem (that is about 1/5 dial up speed):oO back in the day chating it up with people around the world. We blazed the trails of modern lolspeak.

I amaze my youth when I text or message them and use much more advanced terms than the simple LOL. :oD That said, when I here someone use lolspeak IRL I want to HTITHWAJFP (Hit the in the head with a Jesus Frying Pan). >:o|

Finally, Live form New York ...um wait that isn't what I meant. BE prepared for some heavily emote laden messages. ;o)

katdish said...

Okay, so maybe I will use "HTITHWAJFP", because that's fairly awesome...

I like the opportuntity to smile and wink at you guys, and I refuse to stop. I do prefer to announce "I am still laughing" or "I laughed so hard that I was crying" in my comment to writing lol, or rofl, or lmao....I guess I am just old fashioned that way....

Nick the Geek said...

I lmao once and now I have a very flat backside. I might have to get silicone butt cheeks so I don't damage my spine like Hank Hill.

Woke up on the funny side of the bed this morning, Nick?

However, I am not laughing. (IANL) If those dolls show up at my house....Worked up does not begin to describe it. >:-$

Ahhhh...yes. IRC. I did that, too. Fun times in the basement with my sister at 3 o'clock in the morning. Sister geeks bonding time. I've decided I'm 1/2 geek, 1/4 freak, and 1/4 of "yet to be detemined."

Recently my mom used "LOL" on facebook and I think my sister and I simultaneously died a little inside. Time stood still. I mean, my mother the WRITER, who is the queen of correct grammar and spelling and no short cuts....it was weird.

You know you have become "one of them" when you SAY "LOL" in conversation. OMG. C'mon, Kat, get with the 80's! I started using abbreviations back in my PC Jr days. (That would have been BEFORE NtG was born). The reason was so my kids wouldn't know what I was saying. What goes around, comes around. OSLT.

Helen said...

Candy, what does OSLT mean? I am reading it phonetically and I don't like it one bit! ;-)

Wow.
I'm absolutely amazed at how you managed to string together two random points into one post. Smileys and Bratz. I'm so impressed!

"Shake yo skanky thang, shake yo skanky thang, yeah, yeah!
Show 'em how we do it now!"

(/)

I wanna do a butt emoticon! All I can do is a droopy butt! How'd you do the vertical line?

Although the droopy butt IS kinda cool. (and MY way to nonconform)

And Beth, if you DO win the dolls, I think I speak for all of us when I say that a video of creative skank destruction would be well-received. You could end by wrapping them in a snuggie shroud.

Hold shift while pressing \ will give you a | then you have (|).

Beth,
I woke up on the sleepy side of the bed. The more tired I am the weirder I get.

Where's Annie? I want an emoticon t-shirt with 2 droopy butts doing the bump with "shake your skanky groove thing!" on it!

Helen - I think Candy just called you a slut. I could be wrong...

Mandy - I noticed you haven't entered the giveaway. I think Miss Amy Winehouse would look wonderful over the toilet in your bathroom!

"She wanted me to go to Beth's house, but I said No, no, no!"

:P
can you guess?

When you crack yourself up, does that make the crack in your butt bigger? Just askin'... (|)

Let's try that again. Evil Blogger narrowed the butt crack.

Steph, fantastic idea, but I can't even get Frank to edit the FIRST video.

But in my mind I DID imagine me taking a picture of the dolls bound and gagged and posting it with a ransom note....

That's my big butt....

Not to be confused with...

( * )( * )

which is a couple of feet above my big butt... ;p

(My aplogies to Nick, I forget this isn't just a "chick" site)

Nick the Geek said...

Marni,

I think you need to rethink your characters.

katdish said...

I just read a "random quote" on my igoogle page that for some reason reminded me of Nick:

"Just once I would like to be addressed as 'Sir' without the words 'we're going to have to ask you to leave' immediately following."

Christy said...

Y'all are too funny!

katdish said...

Wait...

I just re-read Marni's comment. Your boobs are 2 feet above your butt? You must have a freakishly long torso. Either that or have male measurement gene whereas "one inch equals one mile". Okay...this is getting a little PG-13 here. I'll stop.

sherri said...

It figures...That out of all of us, katdish's site is the first to have T & A on it!!!!

I hope no mega pastor shows up here today!

And Wendy, I'm coming over to your place....got my pointed toe stilletos on and I'm feeling sassy!

Look out!

Helen said...

Okay, until I read Katdish's last comment, I thought Marni was saying those were her two feet, and they didn't look anything like feet. NtG only confused me more. But now I get it. And to think I am concerned over how I can be a good influence over those Bratz dolls if I win them, when I should be worried about being a good influence on you all. ;-) That's right, I couldn't type that with a straight face....

wv delimo the masculine form of dilema. Nick was facing a dilema about whether or not to comment about the t & a on Katdish's site.

Kris said...

what kind of blog is this with boobs and butt comments ;P (i am sticking my t out at you)

kw

katdish said...

Kris -

By "t", am I safe in assuming that you mean "tongue"?

Marni said...

Okay, so not two feet. Measurement is not my spiritual gift. I'm only 5'2", so I don't have a long torso.

I think I may have confused what I was saying with the phrase I use on my college aged small group about using their heads...(that's that lump 3 feet above your ass) and got my measurements off a little. My aplogies for the confusion...

Helen said...

Marni, just so I have it straight, the symbol (*)(*) does not represent putting swollen feet up on a cushion some time during the day?
